Advice from The Speak Easy

What’s this all about? The Speak Easy is a place to, well, speak easily about your issues, problems and concerns.  Forget Dear Abby, Miss Manners, or any other monosyllabic blog you can find these days cluttering up the Web.  We here at The Speak Easy offer something different - unbiased advice from two women who have been there, done that.  Really.

And with dual advice, you get two takes on the same issue.  Hopefully, one or both of them will hit it home for you.

So…What’s Your Problem?

Are You Lonesome Tonight?

My boyfriend is used to being alone. He's been single for several years before he and I started dating. When we first started dating, things were great, but several months we just started seeing less and less of each other. Work and school seems to be getting in the way. He says that he loves me,...

The Suck Stops Here

I am a 15 year old guy and, as I'm writing this question for help, I have a pacifier in my mouth. I would like to know what you think of this, is it normal for a teenager to secretly suck on a pacifier? – Anonymous     What Mary Says... ...

Crock of Love

A childhood friend of 30 years (and ex-boyfriend of 2 years from about 8 years ago) and I are friends on Facebook. I'm happily married, him not so much. I'm also friends with his wife on Facebook as well. They live across the country. He's very artistic... his words don't always make perfect...

The Key to My Suck-sess

I am a thirty year-old single male who has recently returned to the US after working and studying abroad for the past two plus years. When I was forced to move back to the United States because of a lack of work, I was hoping to find a job with the government or an NGO in the field of international...

Why Family Sucks Donkey Balls

I married into a tight family. My sister in-law and family are downstairs, mother in law next door. We split utility bills with downstairs, but when the water bill was high I get blamed for it. I am often blamed for things and complained about. They complain about my footsteps, the way I walk...

The Grass is Always...Brown

I have been friends with a co-worker at my job for the past year, and I messed around and ended up falling for her. My problem is she's married and I know I shouldn't have those feelings to begin with. She asked me how I felt and she told me to be honest about it. She previously told me there would...
